Week 6-Lighting/Environment

I went away for the weekend down in Lewis where I saw some lovely view of landscapes and Meadows. I was unable to stop but I took the picture from my car of some environments that inspired me to design by environment the same way.

Today I have continued with the environment project. For Lush I have to now design and build a meadow for the ending of our advert. When doing this I had loads of difficulty because I have only become better at lighting and I wanted to have my light shine two different colours to get the happy/sun-shine atmosphere. But the hard part was the trees. I used an image I found on Google and put it though Photo-Shop where I had to re shape, add, clone and make a new texture backing so that the Trees were cut out from the original image and built into my scene. I had a class mate help me to show how I can cut out objects and transfer them into single images into Maya8. It makes the meadow environment look much better and give it a depth and 3D look, which is good since I didn't have to build trees in Maya8 and have to texture them. It took all day to light up the scene to get the environment a warmth spring look that will go well with the project.

Week 6-Lighting

For my Hotel model I have learnt more about using lighting from Chris, I have learnt how to make objects have a shine to them plus assigning different materials to an object to give the shower a frost look on the shower door. Also by using render mental ray, I was able to have the whole room reflex making the bathroom look more real. I have used all different types of light starting from spot, area, volume, ambient and directional light, I was able to test all my texture with the lights and by doing this I could see where I was going wrong and had to change the value of the bump mapping and the Blinn texture to Lambert, because the shin of the mental ray, the Blinn texture was reflecting of every object and I found it hard to tone it down with the lights and I went trough the type list and kept rendering the clip to find the texture that suited the room.

Time Management

I have begun to do a timetable using a new program I am using. this will hopefully help me and Chris to become more organized and find out what has to be done and what has been finished.
for the next few weeks I'm doing a quick time table on my blog because I can get easy access to the blog instead of my time table.
Week 5-
Thursday: Finish textures
Friday: Do cover Letter, CV and PPD, Add to blog.
Week 6-
Monday:Chris starts animation, I do the next environment
Tuesday:Lecture with Jared/Texture and finish Modelling Environment
Wed: Finish of everything to do with environments
Thursday:Start animating and being forward ideas on animating the environment
Friday:Dan Dali Lecture, Doing Dan's Disc, plus do more work for him.
Week 7-
Monday: Carry on animating environment/finish.
Tuesday:Do Dan Dali Disc, plus add work
Wed:Do Dan Dali Disc and work
Thursday:have both environments finished and animated butterfly's.
Friday:animate butterfly's.

I will leave the time table like this and not add the other two weeks so that if anything goes wrong or if I go above schedule, then I can add that to my new time table program.

Fed-Back:
Spoke to Jared yesterday and he had told me to carry on with my work and just get it finished and not to worry about pacing it because I was worried about Chris. He also said my blog can be really good if I keep doing it with connecting my ideas with others either from other people or the Internet.

Friday 09/05/08-
Today I am going to be doing my cover letter, CV and Start my PPD, the reason I can't finish it is because I need to get my fed-back so I know what I need to improve on.

Week 5-Texturing

Today I finished of my textured room so that Chris can begin animating in the hotel room. I found that texture the sink was very difficult because I had to texture the different angles and make the sink shinny so it looks more real/natural. I got most of my images from Google web-site on there texture images. I also got loads of information to connect to my work by looking at images from Google also, looking at bathroom from the Shelden Park Hotel and Queens Hotel also including three Hotel from the Las Vegas Strip, since I loved the hotels and some of my friends have just come back from there and showed me pictures of there room.

Week 4-5-Texturing

I started to texture the hotel room, I have managed to do the room and have begun to do the furniture. I hope to finish the texture for this week so when Chris does his character he can begin animating while I do the other environment were I will be then animating the walls falling and help Chris with animating the butterfly's. At the moment I am worried that we haven't done enough work for this week, Jared has made us learn how to do a proper time-table so that we can see what we have and haven't done and hope to bring some organization. for now we are working hard for all projects and hopefully get more results next week from our group work.

Week 3 -The Hotel Room

Playblast Of The Room:
Today I have been working on the bathroom, I started looking at where I can place the sink, shower and toilet. This is the first time I have modeled something like this and I have enjoyed to model something new. I found the taps was the hardest thing to model because they have so much designs and bends in the taps I had to work from an image on Google. I think that The bathroom looks really good and I'm happy to keep it and work on certain models a bit more. After Chris has seen the model via my blog, I can then see what he likes what He thinks needs work and what we can keep.

Toilet:

Sink:

Clip of the bathroom:

Week 3-Film Blast (block out)

After I looked at the previous block out of the room I decided to do another block out but this time, I will work into the objects once I'm happy where there placed. I worked on this for a day and Chris done a quick play blast for our presentation for lush. I am now going to consecrate on the bathroom because its the main room where the advert is taking place.
